I'm a Doctoral Student at the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
Maps are my passion. Especially those old ones, born from the skillful hands of the mapmaker and embellished with ornaments and pictograms of sailing ships and sea monsters where their knowledge ran thin. Even better; fantasy maps of imagined lands, where there be dragons. Those maps that draw you in, fuel your imagination, and compel you to fill the empty spaces.
Besides creating such maps for worldbuilding purposes in popular fiction, I'm particularily interested in how we can capitalise on this quality of maps to support creative problem solving processes for real-world issues; namely complex problems in spatial planning.
Thus, my doctoral project is about CARTographic Illustrative STyles to Inspire Creativity (CARTISTIC): Visualising deep uncertainty during spatial design.

When I'm not buried in program code, old parchment, or Photoshop brushes, I like to spend time with furry friends, explore foreign cultures, or craft physical things. I particularly enjoy re-purposing old treasures and learning whatever skill is needed for the project as I go.
